Homeward Bound, Friday June 28 - Saturday June 29 2024
Friday June 28 th The penultimate day on this voyage, got out by 8:30 – not too bad for us! A bit overcast with some rain in the forecast. We thought we would stop to view one of Thomas Dambo’s troll sculptures along our route. We enjoyed visiting “Rita the Rock Planter” outside of Cripple Creek Colorado and became aware of Thomas Dambo’s work and his amazing, somewhat prolific quest to build interesting trolls all over the world. Alas, as we made our way towards the Canadian border, the rain began falling so we decided to forgo our visit to “Benny the Beard Fisher”, the Michigan troll – but we’ll be back this way I’m sure. With our audiobook spooling away it didn’t take long before we reached the Canadian border and Sault Ste Marie. We cleared customs and were on our way to Chutes PP, still 2.5 hours down the road towards Sudbury. We did make a pit stop for coffee and gas before heading east from the Soo. Chutes was just as we remembered it from our previous visit last fall...
