Sunday June 16

Drove down to Colorado Springs to tour Garden of the Gods but when we arrived it was swarming with people. We decided to put off our visit until Tuesday morning when we would be travelling to Denver and driving right past Garden of the Gods enroute to our last Colorado campground.

Instead, we went to see fossils at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Nice park in a quiet valley west of Colorado Springs. The big attraction are the fossilized giant redwood tree trunks that are 30 million years old!

Later on back at camp we did a short hike called the School Pond trail, very picturesque walk down to a pond… didn’t see any schools. Each day in Mueller SP, we’ve tried a different hike after supper, nice.

Tonight, for some unknown reason, we had a moth invasion in the trailer! We must have killed 20 moths – big brown furry guys. I did read that there is a higher number of moths in Colorado this spring, and they’re all in our trailer… no idea how they got in.
