Sunday June 2nd

Guess what we did on this unscheduled extra day in the area…we went back to Cloudcroft to play another round of golf!

After the game and a nice coffee stop, we did a short hike outside of Cloudcroft to an old trestle bridge built back in the late 1800s. We then took a scenic drive in the high country north of Cloudcroft eventually looping back through Alamogordo to our campsite.

After an early supper we headed out to White Sands NP at 6 pm to watch the sun go down. It was an amazing experience in the seemingly endless dune scape, with ever changing colors, and the setting sun behind the mountains as a backdrop. The soft cool breeze was a refreshing change from the daytime blast furnace we’d been experiencing. We also enjoyed an otherworldly photo shooting experience!
