Our last full day at Nolin Lake SP – we decided to head back to Mammoth Cave National Park to try a couple of hikes that we didn’t have time for yesterday. Did a nice loop trail along the Green River which is fed partially by waters that originate in the cave system. The trees are huge, lots of Red and White Oak, Beech and others I couldn’t identify. We also hiked a short loop trail that passed by some sink holes – areas that have collapsed due to water undermining the surface layer of limestone – part of normal cave formation.

Hiking completed; we headed back to camp for either a run or relaxation depending on the heat. Relaxation won out and we enjoyed some time around camp.

For supper, we went all out with a pizza – managed to score some fresh dough at Kroger’s grocery store and the pizza was delicious. After supper we had a campfire and did a bit of star gazing.
