Travel day – off to Montgomery Bell SP in Tennessee, just west of Nashville. En route we stopped at Bowling Green Kentucky to visit the Corvette Museum. Quite an amazing place showcasing cars from every year since manufacturing of the model started in 1953. Lots of interesting stories and history on both the manufacturing process and personal stories of owners made for an interesting exhibit. There was an interesting catastrophe at the museum back in the 80s, where a section of the museum was undermined by a sink hole, the floor collapsed and eight cars were swallowed up and destroyed in the process. Bowling Green is a short distance south of Mammoth Cave so it’s not surprising the building was affected by a sink hole. I’m not so sure how comfortable I’d be in investing in property in that part of Kentucky – might make me turn to bourbon to calm my nerves.

We made a scheduled coffee stop after the museum in Bowling Green – very nice town – it doesn’t hurt that GM assembles the Corvette here in Bowling Green.

One more stop for groceries then we headed across state lines into Tennessee. We travelled mostly back roads – lots of hills and turns through forests and farmland, very picturesque. We arrived mid afternoon at the campground and got ourselves setup. Very nice park – large mature trees, lots of shade. Looking forward to exploring the area.
