 Sunday April 28th

For our final day in Eastern Kentucky, we decided to head to Lexington – the area is renowned for its horse farms and wooden fences. Seeing as how we were running low on some bulk food items, our first stop was Costco. Second was the car wash as Fripp was very dusty after our Red River Gorge tour yesterday. Our main goal was to go for a run in Lexington somewhere where there were horses – being it’s such a horsey place. We choose a run from “Great Runs” website and hoped it would pan out.

So far our visit to Costco, the car wash and a health food co-op, didn't invoke the horse vibe. Our run through Masterson Park did change that. The park has an equestrian center and is situated on lovely rolling parkland that was well suited for running and horse viewing. Still though, not a good representation of what we think Lexington has to offer in the upscale horse department. We should have chosen a more rural run through farmland and we would have seen more interesting farms, barns and horses. However, the run was good… although hotter than normal for us at around 28 degrees C. There are a number of horse tracks in the area as well but we didn't want to gamble our afternoon away.

After the run we headed back to camp to spend the rest of the afternoon there – and make one last stop at Daniel Boone Coffee shop – we’re addicted.

Look, a horse!
