Tuesday May 7th
On the road again heading south to Louisiana and Fairview Riverside State
Park, close to the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. This was a longish drive, so
we opted for the interstate south to Jackson MS, then switched to backroads the
rest of the way. Fairview Riverside is an urban campground, very nicely
situated on Tchefuncte River with all the amenities needed for a comfy visit to
the area. The whole north shore of Lake Pontchartrain is an upscale area with
easy access to New Orleans. Quite a busy place with lots of choices for
anything shopping related. The area has a real coastal feel to it with lots of
marinas, boats, seafood restaurants and shopping malls.
We set up camp and then headed to the local Fresh Market store for our
provisions. Back at camp, we setup the awning (for shade and privacy too). We
took a walk down to the river which runs along side the park. There was a
dilapidated boardwalk which was falling in the water, and a nice newish
boardwalk that took us through a small bayou…very peaceful and calm.
