Spring 2024 Road Trip
The blog is resurrected! Lydia and I have embarked on a 10 week tour of central USA. Our first stop was Corning NY where we stayed in a hotel for our first night. New York campgrounds are still closed at this early date, so we decided to save our first night of camping until Tuesday in south-west Pennsylvania.
Corning is a great town to visit,
it has a nice historic area with lots of shops and restaurants and is home to
Corning, the famous glass company. On Tuesday before leaving for Pennsylvania,
went to the Corning Glass Museum. We spent over 3 hours touring the various
exhibits and glass working demonstrations and we still didn’t see it all. It
was amazing, would highly recommend this museum, it really has something for
everyone. The glass innovations that have come out of Corning are to numerous
and surprising to mention – if you have a chance, go check it out!
After our morning at the museum
we drove south west to Bedford Pennsylvania and Shawnee State Park. It’s a
lovely park, very quiet at this time of year and very green compared to home.
All the trees are budding and many of the bushes and spring flowers are pushing
up. We had time to setup and get supper going before sundown.
