 Wednesday April 24

Today we had a short road trip down to Lewisburg – a quaint town of approximately 5,000 people. The town was established in the 1700s, so there is a lot of history here. It was also part of the confederacy during the civil war, so there are a number of civil war monuments and cemeteries close by. We went straight to the visitor center where we chatted with one of the  very friendly staff who provided tips on things to see and do. We checked out the museum and then went next door to Carnagie Hall! Who knew there was more than one Carnagie Hall? Not us! We were surprised the building, was open to the public to browse through. We checked out the hall itself which was quite small. There was a dance studio in the building as well as classrooms and some art installations. Quite compact but really well maintained. The staff were super friendly and encouraged us to walk around freely and enjoy the space.

Coffee was next followed by a short ride in the car out the Greenbrier Golf Resort. It is a massive, opulent golf resort with 1500 employees – apparently it’s fully booked year round. We strolled around the grounds and through the main floor of the building and realized this place might be above our pay grade!

That was it for our tour of Lewisburg, we headed back to camp. We still had enough time for a run on the rail trail, the sun was still shining, so we took advantage and had a good session along the banks of the Greenbrier River.
